SACRE COEUR, THE LIGHTER SIDE
SACRE COEUR, THE LIGHTER SIDE
FROM THE ARTIST
There are so many "must dos" when visiting Paris and of course this is one of them. Sacre Coeur is iconic. There are many dark sides to this church and its environment. When I visited it didn't have the usual aura of a Godly place yet it was awesome in its own right as a beautiful building. On my first visit there were crowds, noise everywhere, inside and out, a small children's group having a talk about something near the front of the church, people sitting in corners eyeing off all the visitors, pick pockets everywhere and groups of youths hanging around suspiciously. The "people" aspect of the church was a sad reality. Yet outside the sun beamed down across one side of this amazing building, showing its glory despite the people. I had to restore its glory by painting it proudly standing on its hill with no humans.
